Weight gaining food for babies 

Weight gaining food are those which helps to increase the weight of baby. There are some foods that can really helps to increase the weight but these are applicable only if your baby age is 6 month plus that means on solid diet.

    1. Breast milk or formula milk

    Breast milk or formula milk  is a great source of nutrition it has fats and all the nutrients that is essential for baby growth and weight.

    2. Curd (dahi)
    Curd is also a good option specially when you make it at home and made up of full cream or full fat milk. You can make smoothie with curd  can be served with khichdi etc.

    3. Clarified butter or ghee -
    Homemade ghee (clarified butter)
    2 to 3 tsp of ghee in a day helps to gain the weight.
    Ghee can be included in dal,daliya,khichdi,paratha,poori etc
    Homemade ghee is best for babies.

    4. Sweet potato -
    Every child likes to eat sweet potato. You can add sweet potato in vegetable soup, dal, mashed form , can be added in smoothie.

    5. Banana - Mashed banana is the first food when we introduce the solid feeds and every child likes to eat banana. Banana is like a full meal and good source of calcium.

    6. Ragi (finger millet) -  Ragi can be given as porridge or chilla.
    Ragi should be given in breakfast.

    7. Avacado - Avacado helps in brain development,baby growth.
    It is very nutritious for weight gaining process. Avacado smoothie can be given with milk or curd.

    8. Pulses (daal) - Pulses are good source of protein, you can start with moong dal then gradually as the age increases all the pulses (toor dal,urad dal, masoor dal) are beneficial for baby weight gain.add asafoetida (hing) in dal thats helps in digestion.

    9. Potato - we all knows potato helps to gain the weight. Potato can be given in so many forms like mashed potato , finger chips ,potato patties , aaloo paratha , aaloo poori etc.

    10. Almonds - Almonds is not only good for brain development but also for weight gain.
    Almond can be given as - 
    Soaked almonds in the morning breakfast with milk.
    Almond powder with lukrwarm milk.
    Almond in kheer and semolina halwa.

    11. Mango - mango is king of all fruits
    Very tasty option for weight gain
    Mangoshake can be given.

    12. Egg - Egg is rich source of protein and fat.
    Yellow part of egg can be given to 8 month plus baby.
    White part should be given after 1 yr of age.
